A study published in the scientific journal General Hospital Psychiatry refutes the popular myth that the phases of the moon affect our psychological state . The researchers used lunar calendars and contrasted them with visits to different Canadian hospitals by people suffering from panic attacks, anxiety, mood disorders and suicidal thoughts. The data revealed that there was no relationship between the pathologies and whether the moon at the time of entry was in the first quarter, last quarter or full moon phase.
The results contradict popular beliefs. In fact, the researchers say that 80% of male and female nurses, as well as 64% of doctors, consider that lunar cycles affect the health of patients.
