How much does a photo of a person say? The company Face.com has created an application for developers that includes facial recognition technology to guess the age of a person . The application obtains an interval, with a maximum age, a minimum age and an approximate age that it evaluates as "most probable". From the image he also deduces the gender of the person portrayed. And it analyzes the faces to confirm that they are real, detecting possible added "touch-ups".
The system devised by Face.com uses what is known as reverse engineering to determine whether a person is young or mature, using the structure of the face, among other criteria. Thus, for example, it is known that the younger a person is, the more rounded his face is. And as we age, the face lengthens. The application also determines if an individual smiles and is even able to deduce an approximate mood (happy, sad, worried …) from a photograph.
