After two years interrupted by the pandemic, MotoGP returns to a generally classic calendar with 20 rounds in 2022.
Tracks without a contract for 2023 include the Silverstone, Mugello, Misano and Austin circuits. However, for the most part, the circuits visited this year have an agreement still in force for 2023, which makes it possible to imagine which events will make up the next championship.

– German GP:
Known as one of the key countries in the championship since the 1950s, Germany has hosted its Grand Prix at the Sachsenring since 1999.

– GP of the Americas:
The impressive COTA, in Texas, debuted in the championship in 2013 with a ten-year contract. The organizers have already announced that the event will return in 2023, but no extension of the agreement has been formalized.

– Aragon GP:
The current contracts with the Spanish circuits of Aragón and Valencia each include at least three Grands Prix in five years (2022 to 2026).

– Argentine GP:
After races in Buenos Aires in the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s, the Argentine Grand Prix returned to the calendar in 2014, at Termas de Río Hondo. Now, this is the only South American MotoGP event.

– Australian GP:
Phillip Island has been on the MotoGP calendar since 1997, when it took over from Eastern Creek. MotoGP bets on this circuit until 2026.

– Austrian GP:
Absent since 1997, the Austrian Grand Prix returned to MotoGP in 2016 at the modern version of the Red Bull Ring, KTM’s home race. His presence on the calendar has been extended until 2025.

– GP of Catalonia:
The Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya has been the scene of the Catalan Grand Prix since 1996, home to drivers such as Alex Rins, Marc Márquez, Pol Espargaró, Aleix Espargaró and Alex Márquez.

– GP of the Valencian Community:
As in Aragón, the current contracts with Valencia each include at least three grands prix in five years (2022 to 2026).

– Emilia-Romagna GP:
Linked to the Emilia-Romagna region, the Grand Prix held in Misano was confirmed until 2026 a few weeks ago.

– Spanish GP:
Jerez has had a contract with Dorna for many years. However, the desired rotation between Spanish events could cause its absence from the calendar. At the moment, the Andalusian route has a contract until 2026.

– Finnish GP:
The KymiRing was originally supposed to join the MotoGP calendar in 2018 on a five-year deal, but the event has been consistently postponed year after year, due to a lack of a ready circuit or proximity to a currently embattled Russia. Today, the financial situation of the project continues to raise questions.
– French GP
The French Grand Prix has been on the calendar since 1951. Organized alternately in Albi, Rouen, Reims, Pau, Charade, Le Castellet and even Nogaro, it was in 1969 that it took up residence in Le Mans, a first edition marked in particular by the victory of a Frenchman, Jean Auréal in 125cc. It hasn’t left Sarthe since 2000 and MotoGP is sure to go there for at least another four years.

– British GP:
The history between Silverstone and MotoGP has been ambiguous and although the event was confirmed for 2022 following a previous deal that ended last year, organizers had hoped for a five-year contract event. The rest is yet to be determined.

– Hungarian GP:
Staged at the Hungaroring in 1990 and 1992, the Hungarian Grand Prix had attempted a comeback with the Balatonring, to no avail. A new project, on a completely new track, led to an agreement with Dorna that envisaged five events and initially to be held between 2022 and 2026, but was also postponed.

– Indonesian GP:
Indonesia had already hosted the World Championship twice, in 1996 and 1997, at the Sentul circuit. However, this was before returning to Mandalika, in the paradisiacal setting of the island of Lombok. If the initial agreement covered from 2021 to 2023, COVID-19 seems to guarantee the event until 2024 and thus correspond to its sponsorship contract.

– Italian GP:
The event organized in Mugello is in the promoter’s sights after a 2022 edition marked by a lack of fans, especially caused by the withdrawal of Valentino Rossi.

– Japanese GP:
Everything possible is being done for the adaptation of the program to take shape. Perhaps the opportunity to announce the extension of an agreement that, as it stands, runs until 2023.

– Malaysian GP:
Introduced in the calendar in 1999, the Sepang circuit is an emblematic stage and the celebration of its Grand Prix is already guaranteed until 2024.

– GP of the Netherlands:
The oldest event in the championship was lost during the pandemic, but its future is consistent with a long-term contract in order to capitalize on the large investments made.

– Portuguese GP:
After an edition at Jarama (in Spain) and 11 at Estoril, the Portuguese Grand Prix returned with the pandemic to compensate for the lack of trips outside Europe. Portimão was still on the calendar this season and, although it is unclear how long his commitment to Dorna will last, it was announced that he would kick off the season in March 2023 .

– Qatar GP:
The country has hosted MotoGP continuously since 2004 and its event has the peculiarity of being held at night since 2008.

By announcing the cancellation of its 2020 edition due to the pandemic, Thailand was also able to confirm the extension of its agreement with MotoGP until 2026.
