A full year had to wait for Maverick Viñales from his last podium with Yamaha to his first with Aprilia, a team in which he made his debut in September of last year after giving up continuing to compete with the Japanese brand, which he arrived in 2017.
The frustration accumulated over months left the Spaniard in a state of sporting anxiety that, little by little, was unraveling in his new team, achieving, at the Dutch event at the end of last June, finally achieving a persecuted podium. A success that came just before the five-week summer break, which has seemed endless for the Catalan.
“Given the way we finished the first part of a season on an upward trend, I can’t wait to get back on track,” explains Viñales ahead of the British Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at Silverstone. .
“The enthusiasm after the podium in Assen made this break seem like an eternity, but now I’m ready”, warns Mack, who has very good memories of this track, not in vain it was at Silverstone where he achieved, riding a Suzuki, his first victory in MotoGP, the 2016 season.
“I am very happy to get back on the saddle of my Aprilia. The results show that we are improving and my feeling with the bike is very good”, explains the rider who, however, is aware that the road is still long. “I feel that I still have room to improve. I want to continue working together with the team to be able to develop our full potential”, he stresses.
However, what apparently seemed more difficult, which was to achieve a podium with Noale ‘s house RS-GP, now gives way to thinking that Maverick’s quality and talent can take him to the highest level, as shown by his teammate, Aleix Espargaró, fighting for the championship.
