What is anamorphosis?

It is known as anamorphosis (derived from the Greek, meaning 'to transform') to a particular use of the laws of perspective in painting in which the forms are distorted representations of reality on a flat or curved surface that make sense when viewed from a certain point of view. In other words, this technique creates an optical illusion using knowledge of mathematics and perspective .

Although known since the 15th century, the technique has become very popular with the development of modern 3D Street Art or Street Painting , which uses anamorphosis to create images on the pavement that, seen from a certain angle, achieve a true effect perspective in three dimensions . Two of its most popular representatives, Julian Beever and Kurt Wenner, draw authentic works of art in chalk that seem to come to life on the streets.
