The MotoGP FP3 of the San Marino Grand Prix was finally held in dry conditions and Jack Miller was in charge of setting the best time of the weekend, so far, to lead the morning session on Saturday (1.31.296) ahead of his teammate, Pecco Bagnaia, who was second and whoever he does in the official time trial will lose three positions on the grid through suspension. Third was Fabio Quartararo, while Alex Rins managed to overcome the previous day’s crash to achieve the fourth fastest time and get into Q2. Maverick Viñales, who was fifth, will also be there, with the reborn Franco Morbidelli, who was sixth, beating Miguel Oliveira, seventh.
Behind closing the top 10 of FP3 were Marco Bezzecchi, Pol Espargaró and Luca Marini, but none of the three reached Q2 due to the combined times of the first three free practice. In the case of Bezzecchi, his last lap was canceled and he fell in the standings, while Pol Espargaró crashed at turn 15 and his chances of passing ran out.
They will be in Q2, despite not finishing in the top ten in FP3, Johann Zarco, Enea Bastianini, who was the fastest in FP2, and Aleix Espargaró.
Jorge Martín also stayed out of Q2, who on his last lap had climbed to seventh place, but the lap was canceled due to yellow flags on the track and he also fell to 15th place.
In addition to Pol, during the session Remy Gardner, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and in the final part Miguel Oliveira and Takaaki Nakagami suffered crashes, which caused the flags that forced the cancellation of some laps in the final part of the session.
A session that Marc Márquez, who arrived at Misano on Friday afternoon, was able to follow quietly from the Honda box. The Catalan rider will undergo a medical check-up at the circuit this afternoon to receive the OK and be able to take part in the official Misano MotoGP test from Tuesday.
