When we access a web page, small pieces of information are stored on the computer's hard drive and retrieved by the server on subsequent visits.
These data packages, called cookies -cookies, in Spanish-, can be used so that the user does not have to enter their password every time they enter an Internet site where it is requested or to check how many computers and how many times they connect to a website.
Cookies , which were invented in 1994 by the American programmer Lou Montulli while developing the code for the Netscape browser, have nevertheless been the object of strong criticism, since in practice they allow obtaining data on users' browsing habits.
