Tell me what shoes you wear and I'll tell you what you are like

Researchers at the University of Kansas (USA) have shown that we can judge with 90 percent accuracy what an individual's political ideology, gender, emotional traits and personality are simply by looking at their shoes. In a study whose results are published in the Journal of Research in Personality in its August issue, Omri Gillath and his colleagues worked with 63 students who were shown more than 200 photographs of the shoes of volunteers who had previously been taken a personality test. Observers were able to find out with relative ease whether the person was liberal or conservative, extroverted or introverted, whether or not they were emotionally stable, as well as their level of sympathy, insecurity, anxiety and isolation, among other characteristics. They also managed to discover, from footwear, social status and income with 45% accuracy.

The results reveal that those who wear high boots tend to be less kind, more unfriendly and inclined to avoid intimate relationships . In terms of color, the most colorful shoes reveal serenity . On the other hand, women used to wear the most uncomfortable shoes. Conscientious and serious people wore shoes that, without being new, were neatly clean. The most practical and functional shoes belonged to sympathetic wearers.
