Ten minutes of intense exercise is enough to produce metabolic changes that can last at least an hour . This is the conclusion reached by a team of American researchers who, after conducting a series of experiments with 70 healthy subjects, discovered more than 20 molecules or metabolites whose levels change while people exercise . These natural compounds can lead to burning calories or fat , in addition to improving blood sugar control.
The results are not definitive, as the field of study is quite complicated, but they support the advice that even short periods of exercise are good for health. "Ten minutes of exercise has at least an hour of effect on your body," explains Robert Gerszten of Massachusetts General Hospital.
The study also reveals that in people with better physical condition, exercise has more effect . This is due to the difference between the metabolites of the more trained people versus the less trained, which makes them, among other things, burn more fat.
