To take a curve, riders have to shift their center of gravity , as well as that of the motorcycle, with the movement of their body.
When tracing the curve, 2 forces act : a centrifugal one, which tends to pull the rider out of the curve, and another that has the sense of gravity and is formed by the weight of the motorcycle and the rider.
In equilibrium, the resultant of this system of forces passes through the center of the tire footprint. For this reason, the rider has to adopt positions in which the knee sometimes rubs the asphalt. When the tires are very wide and at high speed, the lean angle is sometimes impractical and the rider has to get off the bike.
