Invertebrates play a vital role in the environment, since in addition to indicating the health of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, they contribute to the food chain and to the pollination of plants.
Likewise, these animals make up 95% of the animal kingdom . Did you know that there are more than a million invertebrates described? Also, although most are insects, there are many species to discover. That is why we must divide them into two categories: invertebrates with body protection and invertebrates without protection.
Invertebrates with body protection
In this category are arthropods, mollusks, and echinoderms. Arthropods are the most varied group within invertebrates, as it is made up of insects, arachnids, myriapods and crustaceans. These species can live both in the jungle and in the forest or the sea, since they know how to adapt to different environments. Mollusks can be found in different environments and ecosystems, while echinoderms are purely marine animals.
Invertebrates without body protection
In the case of unprotected invertebrates we find three groups of species: worms, porifers and coelenterates. The body of the worms is covered by rings, while the poriferous ones have holes to feed on. Coelenterates, on the other hand, are provided with tentacles.
