If you live with a pet (be it a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig) it is essential that you keep its coat healthy. Be aware that if you neglect it, your pet’s coat could become matted or lose its natural shine. Also, each species has different needs. Therefore, you should inform yourself in advance if you want your furry friend to receive the best care. Monitor his health and groom him regularly!
Brush their fur regularly
If your pet is long-haired, you will need to brush his hair more often. Plus, brushing helps remove knots, dead hair, and dirt. It also helps to spread natural oils throughout the body, helping the coat to maintain its natural shine.
Of course, brushing should be a pleasant time for your pet. To do this, you can give your furry healthy snacks before, during or after brushing as a reward. If your pet has knots, brush it carefully so that it does not associate it with pain.
Take care of your diet
If your pet’s diet is not too good (I think of low quality) it is possible that his coat suffers. Also, you should keep in mind that if their feed is too hard on their teeth, they may not want to eat it. Provide him with quality feed and accompany it with wet food specific to his needs. Your pet will thank you!
Monitor their health, especially if they are older
As pets age, their health deteriorates, and so does their coat. Therefore, if you notice any abnormality in the skin or coat of your pet, it is possible that he has a health problem. Take your pet to the vet regularly (especially if he’s older) and watch for any suspicious spots, wounds, or lumps.
In addition, if the vet recommends a treatment, you will have to follow his orders until your pet’s health and coat improves.
