How to make your home a better place for animals

Like people, pets also like to feel comfortable in the home. Therefore, if you live with a dog, a cat or any other animal, you should try to make it feel as comfortable as possible inside the house. Remember that although each species has different needs, they all need to feel cared for, loved and protected. Make your house a cozy place for your furry friend!

Make your home a safe place

If you have a dog at home, you should hide all the electrical cables. Pets (especially when they are small) are very curious, so they could be electrocuted by chewing on an electrical cord. This could lead to various medical problems, such as burns or fluid build-up in the lungs.

Therefore, it is essential that you hide the most visible cables in the home, such as the television or computer. Of course, if your pet suffers an accident you should take him to the vet as soon as possible. Be very careful!

Eliminate toxic plants from your home

Although plants bring a lot of life to homes, some can be toxic to pets, especially cats and dogs. For example, philodendrons can make cats vomit, while aloe vera is toxic to dogs and can cause diarrhea or tremors.

If you have doubts about whether your plant is toxic, it is best to ask a veterinarian or try to keep it away from your pet.

Create an enriching environment

Dogs need new toys to be mentally stimulated. Therefore, you could give him two or three toys and rotate them regularly (every four or five days). Another good option is puzzle feeders, as your furry will be entertained while enjoying a healthy snack.

Similarly, some dogs can learn basic commands (sit, paw, or lie down) and even tricks like playing dead or playing hide and seek. Spend quality time with your pet and enjoy their company. It is the best gift you can give her!
