Dinkelsbühl Top Attractions
A walk through Dinkelsbühl at dusk is a pleasure. Dinkelsbühl is much less touristy than Rothenburg, despite the many restaurants and hotels, and almost any street will lead you past evocative half-timbered houses and shops. A walk outside the intact walls is also interesting: take the path marked ‘Alte Promenade’.
- Dinkelsbühl’s old town is one of the best on the romantic road.
- Saintgeogskirche (Church of St. George) , a late Gothic church on the Marktplatz. See the “pretzel window” donated by the Baker’s Guild. Climb the Romanesque tower (which remains from a previous church) to enjoy views of Dinkelsbühl.
- Spitalanlage (former hospital complex) now includes the historical museum, concert hall and art gallery.
- Stadtmühle , a large military fortified mill that now houses the Museum of the 3rd Dimension, hands-on exhibits with fascinating three-dimensional effects.
Dinkelsbuhl also sponsors Sunday concerts in Town Park from May to September, often with youth bands abroad. Live jazz can be heard at the Jazzkeller.
The old grain market, built in 1508 and originally used as a grain storage barn, is now the youth hostel.
