Important information about Fernando’s restaurant

Located in Praia de Hac Sa, Isla Coloane, Fernando has been cooking delicious Portuguese cuisine for over fifteen years. It’s no secret that this beachside spot is one of the best restaurants not just in Macau but in all of Southeast Asia.

Named after its owner, Fernando is famous for his laid-back style. The restaurant does not accept reservations, so after your arrival, you can expect to wait for a table. Fortunately, you can visit the outdoor bar in the restaurant’s garden while you wait and enjoy the excellent sangrias or order a delicious homemade chorizo.

The restaurant itself is housed in a barn-shaped brick building that extends directly onto Hac Sa beach. Fernando’s is famous for cooking classic Portuguese dishes such as suckling pig, cod, prawns and mussels. No matter what your taste preference is, all of these items are highly rated by former guests.

Fernando is also a farm-to-table restaurant. The bread served with each meal is baked on the restaurant’s bakery premises and vegetables are grown just steps from the kitchen on the restaurant’s vegetable patch. Fernando also has an excellent wine list, made up of Portuguese wines that are surprisingly affordable, and this is one of the many things that keeps people coming back year after year.

If you are in Macau for more than one day, you would be remiss not to visit this iconic restaurant. While the trip to the island of Coloane can be an adventure, it will be worth enjoying Fernando’s incredible family cooking.
