Today the gala company has just made its launch official: it will be available on March 9 both on consoles (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One) as well as on PC (Uplay and Epic Games Store) and Google Stadia. And after playing with other colleagues in the sector, such as 3DJuegos, here are our impressions .
Chaos and laughter with DedSec in Watch Dogs Legion
As soon as we returned to London, but under the main online mode, it was time to gather agents to have a better chance of success, since here we do not have the characters previously unlocked from the solo story mode. And of course, having four hours to play it thoroughly, each of us was more or less for the first thing we caught, in my case being an Albion agent to have more advantages in certain infiltration missions of … Albion , of course.
Being a cooperative experience it did not prevent us from doing the kaffir , because it is the fun when four people get together wanting to have fun. As soon as we recruited the first agent, on a fairly short pre-mission, we started causing chaos right in front of the DedSec pub. Enemy Albion agents were pouring in, their vehicles piling up on the main road, sparking a number of explosions. We foolishly spend five minutes in that guise, just to have a laugh and warm up before work.
In this cooperative mode, the stage is shared, but the missions are completely new. Although here we must differentiate the normal ones, very similar to those we saw in the campaign last year, compared to the so-called Tactical Ops, where there the rapport is completely vital and the slightest mistake can be paid for by having to redo the mission from the beginning.
The standard missions do not bring anything new , except the fact of having three more people to fulfill the objectives, which makes the task much easier, no matter how much tougher enemy comes along the way … or there are a greater number from them. The grace, moreover, also lies in not having restrictions when it comes to moving around London, being able to be freely at any point on the map, no matter how far away the rest of our colleagues are.
Logically, there are activities that gain interest in company , such as the minigame of tapping a soccer ball in the California Games plan, when we bite ourselves with the score of others when we see them live. And it is appreciated that players can join hot , even if there is a mission in progress. It is something that happened to us on multiple occasions, when testing it still in beta and experiencing several errors in this regard, especially with the behavior of the vehicles.
After completing several standard missions and tapping the ball, we opted for the PvP Spiderbot Arena mode, where four players fight to the death with a Spiderbot with much more agile movements than those seen in the Watch Dogs Legion campaign itself. Let’s say it’s like a Call of Duty because of its frenzy and immediacy, from which it even inherits the advantages of death streaks, to the point of being able to get a shield to continue being the kings of the mambo.
We did not expect much in this way and in the end it is the one that surprised us the most . It is frankly fun and itchy a lot, in part because it has a very closed stage and a lot of boxes with random weapons, which allows us to be in constant movement, jumping and shooting. Unfortunately, we all bit the dust against a very inspired and accurate “janito” who did not stop crushing us.
And it is that here not only the use of each weapon is key, but knowing how to play the trick of the streaks, no matter how much there is the inconvenience that the leader can be seen by the rest of the players, even through the walls. The weapons, by the way, are reminiscent of classic FPS, like Quake III: Arena. A futuristic touch, but with a vintage aftertaste , for a mode that can give a lot of play and that will serve to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of London. Ideal, above all, for fast games .
A multiplayer that will explode on March 9
Returning to the cooperative mode, beyond the freedom to explore the map in the company of three other people, both by land, by sea or air, with the transport drone, the differentiating point is put by the aforementioned Tactical Ops mode, being missions created specifically for cooperative play . But to the beast.
The mission that best defines this type of demanding experience was precisely the first, which put us on the ropes in multiple attempts. And it is that in the so-called “Leader of the Pack” we had to divide ourselves into two groups to complete two missions at the same time , with that point of union in which the download of credentials had to be synchronized without anyone failing it. It cost us his, since the enemies here are tougher and it is not easy to secure the areas.
Needless to say, the slightest mistake forced us to redo this main mission from the beginning, which gave us many headaches, since if one of the team fell, they all fell . It is not something that happens in all sections of this mission or subsequent ones, but we will see critical points that must be respected , as well as stealth areas in which we must avoid detection at all costs so as not to fail the mission. And there you already imagine the party, of course.
Luckily, the four of us went from less to more, increasing the rapport, without going crazy , especially in a certain mission against the most lethal drones in the entire game, having to be patient with the investigation and the hacking, until the moment came. final fireworks. The satisfaction is priceless, also due to the suffering in missions that are not short, precisely, with the inevitable fear of having to completely redo them if we fail … which happened on multiple occasions, yes.
With more time, we would have used the influence to recruit more agents , such as the MI6 spy aid (if we are arrested or killed, we have to change agents by force, of course), or improve all branches of technology, as we did in the main campaign. Because it is clear that the matter changes a lot in certain missions if we have the option of hacking the standard drones, as we saw later, specifically in a mission in which, after unlocking a panel with four keys, we face many waves.
Four hours went a long way , in any case. We spent the longest time in Tactical Ops, of course, but we were overcoming the most difficult missions based on tenacity and patience, being a very attractive contrast to the main game . And luckily there are a couple of weeks left to get the hang of the final multiplayer version of Watch Dogs Legion as a free update.
