We have attended the Riders Republic presentation at E3 2021 and we have been wowed for the wrong reasons

I understand how weird this is going to sound, but I’m really looking forward to Riders Republic. While the little seen so far seems to stumble over the same stones as other recent Ubisoft titles, it is also true that my attention to the game after attending its presentation goes another way.

I have plenty of that rogue aesthetic to the American punk video clip of the 90s, the dances of the people when you are trying to enjoy the views and, in general, that intention of wanting to take everything socially accompanied by players I do not know and that they couldn’t care less.

Scratching to find gold

I still start off on the wrong foot because at the end Riders Republic makes it very clear that it is about that, having 50 other players on screen and competing casually or competitively in snowboard, bmx, squirrel suit, ski, wingsuit events with rockets and a bike with the same configuration.

And precisely for this reason I have no intention of dwelling on that, because in the end that summary is the one that you will have already deduced from the video or the typical vomiting of data that you will end up reading there sooner or later. No, I would like to take the opportunity to go a little further and try to explain why a title that seems to have everything that drives me out of my boxes from the current game stream catches my attention.

The reason is in another data list, in which he mentions all the National Parks in the United States that will serve as the setting for those races: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Zion, Canyonlands, Mammoth Mountain and Grand Teton. A collection of some of the most beautiful landscapes that have passed through my eyes and that, even if it is based on pushing other players down a ravine, I plan to enjoy it in the most relaxed and antisocial way possible.

Ubisoft has already shown on more than one occasion that replicating real scenarios is great for him , and no floss of a little boy with a crest and steampunk glasses is going to prevent him from enjoying it, peak to peak and jump to jump. As I did in his day with Steep, I plan to play this completely to my ball.

Is Riders Republic for me?

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like the game is going to make it difficult for me. In addition to being able to move around at will – you go to leg and open a selection wheel to choose the vehicle to which you want to jump at all times -, not all races and tests are tied to those massive events that the game boasts in a promotional way.

With 50 players in the new generation – about 20 in the previous ones – I have seen few crashes that are really annoying. In the absence of trying it first hand, the feeling is that the players are flowing. Without going through like ghosts, but also without hitting or pushing yourself excessively.

Just as simplified seems the cheat system of each modality, which does not seem to be too demanding when it comes to nailing the movement when touching the ground and, in fact, even aims to have some kind of automation on the landing for less experienced players .

I am missing a skate and a long for the few asphalt that are seen, but it does not seem that I will miss them much. I do not come to Riders Republic for that, or for the social, or for the rest of the vehicles. I come for the Captain of Yosemite, for the Fairyland of Bryce Canyon or the Devil’s Postpile of Mammoth. Ubisoft , don’t fail me.
