Aleix Espargaró leads FP3 in Assen despite a last minute romp

The rain respected this Saturday the third free practice of the weekend of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, which on Friday was conditioned by weather conditions. With sun, good temperature and a dry track, the riders sought the limits of the track, which were found by a good number of runners who ended up rolling on the ground, including the leader of the time sheet, Aleix Espargaró, who after setting a time of 1.32.164 with his penultimate tyre, he remounted a new soft rear tire with four minutes remaining with which he could not improve by going down at turn 3, just after they did it at that same lap, in the last minute of practice, Fabio Di Giannnatonio, in turn 5, and Johann Zarco, in turn 7, which painted the entire circuit with a yellow flag, forcing the stewards to cancel many laps of the drivers for not slow down, including Maverick Viñales, who had been third but was dropped to seventh, and Jack Miller, who moved from eighth to tenth, narrowly saving his place in Q2 despite the canceled lap.

After Aleix, the fastest was the leader of the World Championship, Fabio Quartararo, with Alex Rins third, gaining a position due to the cancellation of the Viñales lap, despite the injury to his left hand, and beating Takaaki Nakagami, who was fourth at final, Marco Bezzecchi, who fell at the beginning of the session, Pecco Bagnaia, who was sixth, the aforementioned Maverick, and Jorge Martín, who despite the infection in the operated wrist, the right, managed to close a lap that takes him directly to Q2.

The top 10 was closed by Johann Zarco, despite the fall at the end, and Miller, who left Joan Mir out by 84 thousandths, who will have to pass, once again, through the Q1 sieve.

Neither did Franco Morbidello, Brad Binder, Miguel Oliveira, Luca Marini, who suffered a fall, or Enea Bastianini, who also fell at the beginning of the session and finished 17th, confirming that after being the best in the first half of the course with three victories, is immersed in a small crisis. Alex Márquez, 20th in the times, must also go through Q1.
