Aleix Espargaró leads the warm up at Le Mans

Le Mans.- Aleix Espargaró led the practice session on Sunday morning, prior to the French Grand Prix MotoGP race, which will take place at two in the afternoon (local time) at the legendary Le Mans circuit, where the de Aprilia will start third, from the front row of the grid, and will look for the fourth podium of the season that will keep him fully involved in the fight for the championship. The local idol, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, finished second, ahead of Takaakin Nakagami and Jorge Martín, who finished fourth as first Ducati.

Alex Rins, who will start seventh on the grid, finished fifth and once again showed that he has pace, while Jack Miller, second at the start, was sixth, beating Johann Zarco who was penalized three positions for hindering another driver in Q2 and should start ninth. Enea Bastianini set the eighth fastest time before crashing again, the third of the weekend, this time at turn 3. Pol Espargaró finished ninth and Maverick Viñales closed the top 10 of the warm up.

Franco Morbidelli was eleventh after making some good laps at the wheel of Quartararo, while Marc Márquez was twelfth, finishing just ahead of poleman Pecco Bagnaia, who took it easy, while Joan Mir 18th, did not quite feel comfortable in a layout that has never been to his liking.

Some riders went out to the warm up with wet tires to take a lap and ‘clean’ them, in case the water finally makes an appearance as some forecasts indicate.
