Aleix Espargaró undergoes an operation for compartment syndrome

Aleix Espargaró underwent an operation on his right arm on Monday to solve the problems that he has been dragging this season derived from chronic effort compartment syndrome, which is what is known as the imprisonment of the nerves in the forearm area.

Initially, Aleix suffered from these problems with a greater incidence in the right arm, and to a lesser extent also in the left, for which a double operation was proposed, also in the left extremity as a preventive measure. Finally, however, it was decided to act only on the most affected arm.

Compartment syndrome has become one of the silent enemies of the riders this season and the Aprilia rider is the fourth MotoGP rider to pass through the operating room this year, after Jack Miller , Iker Lecuona and Fabio . Quartararo , these last two for the second time after previous interventions.

Espargaró began to notice problems with his right arm in Portimao and, above all, Jerez, but he wanted to wait until the end of this weekend’s appointment in France to undergo surgery.

Aleix traveled to Barcelona on Sunday afternoon, after having to finish the MotoGP French Grand Prix race early due to technical problems on his Aprilia (the bike stopped), and this morning at 8 o’clock he entered the department Surgery at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.

The operation was successfully completed at around 12 noon and doctors hope that the driver will be able to reappear fully recovered at the next Italian Grand Prix , which takes place in two weeks at Mugello .
