Nobody better than Alex Márquez knows what his brother Marc has been going through in the last two years, since he was injured in Jerez, a roller coaster of ups and downs in his physical condition that they experienced, one more chapter, on Sunday in Indonesia, when he suffered a hard crash in the warm up and his double vision problems were reproduced.
Alex assured that he had never seen Marc so bad, before reassuring him that, right now, he is in high spirits.
“The first days, as usual, he was very down. I had never seen him this down, but fortunately the improvements are there. Now he is very well. This morning, when I saw that they changed the calendar, I made a joke. I said ‘you have one more day to get fit and come’, just to cheer him up a bit. It’s something that he feels like an improvement and this is a really good thing on a mental level,” he said.
The truth is that the improvement of Marc Márquez evolves at great speed and the Repsol Honda Team, even, does not rule out a reappearance next weekend in Austin.
“I hope to see him back very soon, because he is my brother and I want to see him on the track. But it is also very good for the Honda riders to always have him on the track and putting the bikes to the limit”, assured the boy from Cervera.
Marc Márquez will be replaced this weekend in Argentina by Stefan Bradl, the Honda test rider, but for now the team has not ruled out the Catalan reappearing in Austin.
Problems are crowding Honda and after Marc’s withdrawal, Takaaki Nakagami’s positive for covid now joins, who will not be in Termas and is a serious doubt for Austin, where LCR should look for a substitute, which can become everything a problem for HRC if Marc can’t respawn.
