HRC sent directly from Tokyo to Mugello some new chassis and swingarm for Marc Márquez's RC213, trying to find solutions to improve the bike, some parts that the Spanish rider used the weekend in Italy, just when he made the decision to undergo a fourth operation on his injured right arm.
Given the indefinite loss of Marc, Honda made the decision that these two new pieces would go directly to Takaaki Nakagami, skipping, in the logical line of succession, Pol Espargaró, who was upset by this maneuver, a clear loss of confidence for part of the manufacturer towards its pilot.
In Barcelona on Saturday, Nakagami admitted to fitting the frame and swingarm over the weekend to one of his bikes, but their performance hadn't improved, so he decided to go back to his standard bike, so he didn't use them for the race, in which he suffered a terrible fall.
This Monday, HRC made the decision that this chassis and swingarm be mounted on Alex Márquez's bike, skipping Pol Espargaró again.
"Both parts are on Alex's testing program today," Lucio Cecchinello told Motorsport.com in the same Montmeló paddock.
"Nakagami wasn't wearing those pieces when he crashed, in fact he wasn't wearing them all weekend," he added, contradicting Taka's words on Saturday.
After testing them Marc in Mugello and, Nakagami and Alex in Barcelona, the only Honda rider who, for the time being, will not have been able to ride with these two new parts will be the youngest of the Espargaró.
