After nine months out due to injury, eight-time world champion Marc Márquez returned to action in Portugal last weekend and finished in a heroic seventh position, having qualified sixth on the grid.
During the race, the Márquez brothers were close to each other for the first time in MotoGP, with Marc finishing four seconds ahead of Alex.
Asked about racing with his brother, the LCR rider joked that he wasn’t happy about being beaten, but praised Marc’s “incredible” weekend.
“I’m not happy, he’s a bastard, he beat me in the first race,” the Márquez’s younger brother replied with a laugh.
“I did the whole race behind him and I was like, ‘Fuck.’ special for the whole family. It could have been better, but we both finished with good results and I have to say that his comeback has been amazing after many months.”

“In the first few laps we saw that he was not used to the race and he made some mistakes, also in overtaking. But anyway, until the last lap it was incredible,” explained the #73 .
The Repsol Honda rider released all the pressure he has endured these nine months when he reached the box after crossing the finish line.
“His reaction was normal when he got to the box because he knows better than anyone what his situation was. He deserved to finish seventh and he has done an incredible job all weekend. It is surprising what he has done seeing how his arm was. Going behind I tried learn. At last I kept my distance,” he stressed.
