Alex Rins: "The bike is ready to get on the podium"

Le Mans.- Until the Spanish Grand Prix a couple of weeks ago, Alex Rins co-led the points table with Fabio Quartararo. However, all the consistency and solidity shown by Rins in the first stage of the World Championship vanished when he reached the Andalusian track, where he was not comfortable at any time.

After failing to get into the second qualifying round, on Saturday he went to sleep with the 14th fastest time. On Sunday, the day of the race, a track exit led him to rejoin the rear of the peloton, to end up crossing the finish line 19th, in what is, so far, his worst result in a year that up to that moment had embroidered.

At Le Mans, despite the dismal news of Suzuki closing at the end of the year, Rins seems to have recovered the version exhibited in the first five stops on the calendar. In the first training session he finished the second one, just one tenth behind the fastest (Pol Espargaró). In the afternoon he was third, less than three tenths behind Enea Bastianini, who completed a lap in record time.

“I was fast from the start, and that’s what we probably lacked in the last race. It was very easy for me to concentrate. It’s not easy to put aside everything that happens, to forget it. But I did it and I’m happy about it. Here, in MotoGP, if you blink you’re out of Q2, so you have to be focused. During all these days, you think you can’t get lost, but the truth is that everything came out very naturally”, summed up the Spaniard, who, due to feelings, threw minus some grip on the rear end.

“When I put the middle front tire I had a bit of a hard time finding the grip I needed. That’s why I went back to the soft,” said Rins , who, in any case, believes he has the weapons to be able to fight for the podium this Sunday: “We have to see how we qualify on Saturday, and then we’ll see what we opt for. It’s clear that the bike is ready to get on the podium.”

That, depending on the time the pilots are then, given that the forecasts have changed and now they predict rain, a circumstance that would completely disrupt the planning.
