Fernando Alonso has been one of the most talked about names in the Formula 1 paddock after the recent United States Grand Prix, in which he starred in an incredible comeback that, initially after a protest accepted by the FIA from the Haas team , he was left without a prize. However, the stewards retracted the decision and gave him back that seventh place that he achieved with his effort and perseverance.
During the days that followed, and until the final outcome of the penalty at the Grand Prix of Mexico was known, social networks were filled with hate messages towards the judges of the highest category of motorsports, especially against the Spanish Silvia Bellot . In response to this, the two-time world champion himself used social networks to send a message of sanity in which he asked for proper behavior from all fans of the sport, but it was not the only thing that Alpine used his official accounts.
In a statement published by De Telegraaf , the man from Oviedo seemed to say that the titles won by Max Verstappen during the past two seasons had much more value than others on the grid, specifically those of Lewis Hamilton, but he wanted to qualify his words on Twitter .
“Verstappen’s titles are more valuable than Hamilton’s,” appeared in the Dutch medium. “I respect Lewis [Hamilton], but it is different when you win world championships when you have only fought with your teammate.
“I think such a championship has less value than others when you are fighting against drivers from different teams, with a better car in some cases,” the Dutch publication could read.
Due to this and the interpretation that has been given in the rest of the media, Fernando Alonso said: “And again… Please, all the titles are incredible, well deserved and inspiring. Incomparable to each other, and let’s enjoy champions and legends of our current time. Tired of the continual search for headlines.”
The two-time world champion made his annoyance visible with some portals that used his words somewhat taken out of context, and he preferred to qualify that statement before getting behind the wheel in what will be one of his last races with the Enstone team.
