After some rumors that Pierre Gasly had been left out of the Austrian structure following the renewal of Sergio Pérez with Red Bull, Franz Tost , AlphaTauri team manager, has confirmed that the French driver will continue in Faenza next season.
During the press conference for the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 team managers, Tost praised his driver’s current form and confirmed that he would continue with them in 2023 “100%”.
“Pierre has improved a lot. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the season, we had a lot of reliability problems, but it wasn’t his fault, it was the team’s. I’m very happy now that, at least in Baku, he was able to show how good he is, And I hope we provide him with a competitive car for the rest of the season, because Pierre has the ability to be up front, and it’s up to the team to give him a really good competitive car,” said the Austrian.
Continuing with his statements, Franz Tost was in charge of ending all the rumors that were circulating about the future of #10.
” He will be a driver for the Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2023. This is 100% confirmed . He has a valid contract. There is nothing more to say,” he concluded.
In this way, the French driver will not break his contract prematurely and will continue to compete under the colors of the Faenza team, for at least one more season.
Although it is true that his contract already extended until the end of the next campaign, so it is not a renewal to use, Helmut Marko himself had repeated on several occasions that if Pierre Gasly wanted to leave the structure, he would have the door open completely, since there was no point in keeping him with no chance of promotion to the top team.
In the words of the Faenza team manager, the team’s wishes were to maintain the same line-up for the third consecutive year, so Yuki Tsunoda is also expected to continue in his current seat in the 2023 Formula 1 season.
