The boy from Pramac-Ducati made the decision to undergo surgery to correct the problems caused by the strangulation of the nerves in the carpal tunnel of his right hand, something that caused his hand to go numb and lose sensitivity at the time to brake.
After the operation, which took place in Modena on Monday June 6, Martín reappeared at the Sachsenring last weekend. “I’m worse than I imagined after the operation,” admitted the man from Madrid, to whom the doctors had predicted a lightning recovery.
But far from going for the better, Jorge Martín appeared before the media this Friday with an infection in his right wrist, where he showed a lump right in the scar of the intervention “that oozes pus,” he said. What is conditioning your performance on the bike.
“It has been a generally positive day, in the wet I have felt very comfortable, something good, since in the Portimao weekend, the last one with rain, I felt terrible. I have come to be among the first, I have found myself well on the bike without risking much”, he summarized in the first free practice of the morning, in wet conditions.
“In the dry, in the afternoon, we took a little longer to start than the rest and it has conditioned us to start with the medium rear tire, it was not the best choice seeing that everyone did it with the soft one. I hope a jump for tomorrow because we have been far from Pecco (Bagnaia), so we have to look at (the data) to see where we can improve. In general, we are not so bad and I am happy with how I have been in the wet”.
Regarding the recovery of his operated wrist, Martín was not so happy.
“Well, I’m sick because the scar from the operation has become infected, I’ve been taking antibiotics since yesterday and I feel quite weak, but I’m going to have to continue taking them for a few days. It’s an inconvenience, but it is what it is”.
At that point the runner showed the scar .
“The last two days, with the trips, perhaps I have picked up some dirt and it has become infected, it is oozing a little, but they are treating me and the pain in my wrist has improved a little compared to Germany, where I suffered a lot, and this is positive. Now we have to be patient and treat the infection well”.
