Mandalika.- The Ducati rider completed 57 laps of the Indonesian track on the third and last day of the pre-season test on the island of Lombok , with a best time of 1:31.426, but above all drawing very positive conclusions that make him optimistic about ahead of the start of the season.

“We have done a great job. Our pace and consistency are very good. We still have to work a little more, but with only five days of testing we have to test everything in fewer laps than usual,” explained Pecco Bagnaia at the end of the day.

“The part where there is still more margin is in the power delivery, but we have improved a lot. Being a new bike, five days of pre-season is not enough. Surely this bike can still lap three tenths faster. We are working on it “, warned the leader of the powerful Ducati project in MotoGP .

“The strength points of our bike are the same as last year’s: braking, corner entry and acceleration,” described the new GP22 .

As usual, the riders take the test results with a grain of salt, in which Pol Espargaró’s Honda set the fastest time.

“It’s not easy to say who is the fastest in this test, because of the tires.”

Bagnaia does not want to put more pressure on himself than necessary, despite the fact that everyone points to him as the clear favorite to be champion in 2022.

“I feel good, but I’m not the only one. There is more than one favorite for the title. I didn’t win last year, Fabio did,” referring to Quartararo.

“Constantly I’m fine, but I was having a bit of a hard time on my fastest lap. I think this bike has more potential than last year’s in this regard.”

After some doubts in the two days of testing in Malaysia , where the Ducati was lacking in traction and some instability in the rear wheel, the evolution has been very positive in Indonesia.

“Until we got here it was possible to fight for the podium; now I think it’s possible to do it to win.”

Pecco showed the impact of a stone on his right arm, which left a good mark on the skin.

“The problem is the stones that shoot out and hit you. If you’re the first, there’s no problem. But if you’re behind, there’s only one line. One of these projectiles can break the radiator,” he explained.

“In the security commission they assured us that they will clean the track”, ahead of the race scheduled for March 20.
