This time it was only five points, much less than Ducati dreamed of by placing five bikes in the first two positions on the grid, but Pecco Bagnaia continues to cut points from the overall leader, Fabio Quartararo, whom he bit 25 at Assen, 17 at Silverstone and a total of 47 in the last three events on the calendar, reaching 156 points in the general classification, already only 12 behind second Aleix Espargaró, who lost again compared to the first (now he is 32 behind).
The most important thing, however, is that Bagnaia achieved the victory, one more, and continues to do part of his job.
“It’s three in a row, but it wasn’t easy today, we decided on the front tire for safety, but it wasn’t a good choice, it blocked me in the final part of the race and before it was going well, but I couldn’t brake hard, so it was a very complicated race”, explained Pecco at the end of the race.
New cut with respect to the leader, reinforcing the title options despite the irregular start to the season.
“We have cut five more points, which was the goal, to keep climbing, that was the plan. For sure it will not be possible in every race, so I am happy to have achieved it once again.”
And now, again, favorable races for the Ducati…
“Now we go Misano where we can go well,” he admitted.
Despite achieving his fifth victory of the year, Pecco remembered the errors accumulated in the first part of the course, which are complicating his intention to be champion.
“I have been wrong in many decisions this year, but when you make a mistake you have to learn from it, I still have a lot to learn, but we have taken steps forward. Today we have had very difficult situations, on the verge of falling, and we have saved, that’s what we learn, so as not to exceed that limit,” he argued.
Pecco complained about the choice of tires for the race.
“The tires have not been good for us, it has helped us that the track favored us”.
Four races ago, after crashes in Barcelona and Germany, few thought of such an electrifying recovery…
“If I have ever thought that I couldn’t win the World Cup it was after a crash, but it was only for a moment, I am very optimistic and I have always believed that we can fight for the title, as long as we have options, we will never stop fighting for it” , settled the one in Turin.
