Bagnaia's return that "impressed" Miller and made him feel powerless

The Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit witnessed how Pecco Bagnaia gave Ducati back the desire to dream. Regaining the lead in the constructors’ championship, the boy from Turin took the first victory of the year in a weekend where his shoulder seemed to be the least of the problems.

With a heart-stopping lap in their fight for pole, the Ducati box regained hope after a disappointing start to the season for the Borgo Panigale factory. Pecco Bagnaia was able to stop the clock with an undisputed record (1’36.170) that placed him at the top of the time sheet.

Although the result filled the Ducati box with joy, it was impossible for his teammate, Jack Miller, to understand what led to the return of Bagnaia in a weekend in which, apparently, both riders arrived at Jerez in the same conditions.

“Why did my partner score 1’36″1 in the classification and I 1’37″0?” Miller asked himself, anticipating the questions that the journalists were going to ask him. “I’m clearly not as good as him!” he laughed.

However, he couldn’t help but rave about his boxing partner’s feat against Fabio Quartararo. “Pecco [Bagnaia] did an impressive lap,” he acknowledged.

“They both have incredible pace. […] It’s hard to understand the situation precisely, because they all did a lot of consistent laps.”

In this line, it is not the first time that Jack Miller places perseverance as a point to improve in his fight for points.

“For me the most important thing is to work all weekend. Consistency is my weak point, it has resisted me throughout my career,” admitted the Ducati rider last week, when he opened up about his options in 2022.

“I understand more and more about my bike, what we have to do and where we have to work. We are going to try to find the speed of last year,” concluded Miller.
