Barcelona will continue hosting MotoGP until 2026

After the approval of the budgets of the Catalan government, as we announced on Tuesday, those responsible for the Circuit de Barcelona were able to close the agreement that they had already advanced together with the head of Dorna Spors, Carmelo Ezpeleta .

The signed agreement ensures the celebration of a minimum of three grand prizes for five years. In this way, the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia , which is already part of the 2022 calendar, ensures its celebration twice more until 2026, alternating with other Spanish circuits, always maintaining a minimum of three editions in the signed period.

“We are very pleased to continue hosting the most important competition in the world of motorcycling. It is great news for the fans of our country, for the international projection of Barcelona and Catalonia, and for the objective of turning the Circuit into a strategic piece for economic and social development linked to the green mobility industry”, explains Roger Torrent , president of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in an official note issued this Friday.

For his part, Carmelo Ezpeleta , CEO of Dorna Sports admits that “the renewal for five more seasons with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is, without a doubt, very good news for the MotoGP World Championship. The spectacular Catalan track has been linked to MotoGP since the beginning of Dorna and has become a fixture on the calendar each season. This important agreement that extends the relationship until 2026 demonstrates, once again, the commitment shown by the promoter with our championship”.

In 2022 the four Spanish circuits, Barcelona (5/6/22), Jerez, Motorland and Valencia , have secured their position on the MotoGP calendar, it will be from 2023 and depending on the demand of other circuits, when they can enter rotation all four tracks.
