Enea Bastianini’s adventure in MotoGP has just begun and it should be noted that the first results have been really good. Riding an old Ducati GP19 owned by the Avintia Esponsorama team, the reigning Moto2 world champion has regularly placed in the top 10, with ninth place in the Portimao race as the best result.
A promising start that has not prevented the Romagna rider from being at the center of market rumors for next season. During the Spanish Grand Prix it was announced that the VR46 team will form on the MotoGP grid next season thanks to the Saudi sponsor Aramco, and among the possibilities is that the Valentino Rossi line-up will take Ducati motorcycles.
La Bestia has a contract with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and that could complicate his situation, although at Jerez for the time being he did not want to go too far into questions related to his future.
“I don’t know, at the moment it’s hard to say. VR46 and also Gresini are close to Ducati and I don’t know what my position is for the future, we’ll see. I think in one or two races everything will be more defined,” he commented.
“I think I can continue with Ducati, although I don’t know which team. I really like this bike and I think my future lies with it, although at the moment I don’t know,” he added.
The season has only just begun, so for now he doesn’t want to think about it too much: “It’s still early, but I’m pretty calm. Obviously, I’ll look at other options, but the goal is to continue with Ducati,” Bastianini clinched, who is currently 12th in the championship and best rookie despite not finishing the Jerez race.
