Bastinini leads the Ducati army on the first day in Misano

Enea Bastianini, who next season will race with the official line-up of the Bologna factory, led a Ducati quartet on the time sheet of the second free practice session of the San Marino Grand Prix. The boy from Gresini stopped time in 1.31.631, beating Pecco Bagnaia, who was second, and Jack Miller, who finished third, by one tenth. Ducati Johann Zarco closed the poker at three tenths. The four took advantage of the final part of the training session, mounting new tires, to attack the time.

Fifth finished Fabio Quartararo, who led the FP1 in the morning and much of this second session, in the end he had to see how the Italian machines beat him mercilessly. After the Frenchman from Yamaha, Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaró finished, with the Aprilia, while Jorge Martín was eighth, closing the top 10 Marco Bezzecchi and Franco Morbidelli.

These ten riders provisionally go to Q2, and it seems that this will be the case since rain is expected for Saturday morning and, therefore, it will be difficult to improve the times. Thus, for now, Pol Espargaró is doomed to go through Q1 again due to a meager difference (59 thousandths), the KTMs of Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder, or the Hondas of Alex Márquez and Takaaki Nakagami. The Japanese Kazuki Watanabe, last, finished 4.5 seconds behind the fastest and made the cut to stay in the competition by 70 thousandths.
