Bottas sold a nude photo for charity

Valtteri Bottas’s life changed radically after leaving the Mercedes team, since in the German team he was relegated to a role of second driver where all the advantages went to Lewis Hamilton in his fight for world titles.

Thus he spent five seasons in which he only added 10 victories, while the seven-time world champion managed to climb to the top of the podium fifty times.

With his move to Alfa Romeo, Bottas has relaxed considerably, as he no longer has the pressure of having to perform and act as Hamilton’s squire. Now the Finn can unleash his full potential as a driver in a team looking to grow through his experience.

His change of mentality has been seen on his social networks, where he has posted images in which he appears with his butt in the air while taking a bath in a river in Aspen , in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Said photograph helped raise 50,000 euros for charity thanks to the 5,000 people who acquired a copy of the ‘work of art’ by German photographer Paul Ripke , a regular in the Mercedes garage.

Bottas’s action on his Instagram account drew so much attention that it went viral, and he decided to collaborate with the German to make a batch whose benefit would go to charity, although he assured that it was a bit “rare”.

The Finnish pilot went so far as to say that he “didn’t understand” why people paid to see his butt printed in a photograph, although he was satisfied that it was done for “something good”.

“I haven’t signed any yet, maybe I’ll do an autograph session with them,” Bottas joked. “I was seeing some images of people taking photos, some have it in the living room, others in the kitchen, or even in the bedroom.”

“What’s amazing is how I’ve tapped into the power of social media, where we’ve raised €50,000 for charity in just 24 hours with a rear end photo,” the Alfa Romeo driver continued.

The Finn also revealed how the story of his swim in the Colorado River was, and it was due to the hobby he shares with his partner since 2020, the professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell . The 33-year-old Australian managed to finish 11th in the Giro d’Italia in 2012 and 2013, in addition to reaching 5th position in the 2014 Road World Championships, and accompanied her boyfriend in the United States.

Bottas explained that she was the one who took the photo, although it was Paul Ripke who edited the image to start raising money: “The next day we decided that we would like to print it for charity and it was like a ‘boom'”.
