Dani Pedrosa has become an indispensable piece in the development of the KTM RC16, representing the piece that the gear of the Austrian team needed. One of the riders who has confirmed this theory has been Brad Binder, who, after signing second place and getting on the podium in the first round of the championship, did not hesitate to underline the importance of the Spanish rider’s arrival at the factory.
“We are incredibly lucky to have Daniel as a test driver,” Binder introduced during the Argentine Grand Prix. “I think if we look at Dani, we realize that he is not just another test driver, he is also like a mentor for us.”
The Spanish driver opted for the Austrian factory after retiring, joining the team as a test driver after finishing his career as an active driver. However, what few expected is the great impact that Pedrosa ‘s experience, audacity and analytical mindset have had in building a competitive prototype in 2022.
“Obviously he understands the bike very well, and if he sees things that are sometimes not under the control of the riders, he doesn’t say anything, but when he sees that we can improve, he does,” emphasized the official KTM rider.
“Pedrosa gives us advice whenever she can, and whenever she sees something wrong, she gives us good ideas on how to fix things or how to improve and in general she is a great person.”
The performance of Dani Pedrosa, together with the KTM technical team, led the Austrian factory in the right direction and, today, it stands as one of the brands to beat in the 2022 MotoGP season.
“He is our eyes on the track and always reviews the data with us, and the best thing is that he always tries to show us the right direction and the points where we can improve.”
“Both Pedrosa and [Mika] Kallio are very practical,” he added. “Also, this year we’ve taken an approach of spending more track time with them to try and help us out and we’ve already seen improvements and I think it’s clear that we all really like that way of doing things,” concluded Brad Binder.
