‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ is being a breath of fresh air for its creators and it is that so many years anchored in World War II end up taking their toll. The team, the designers, the programmers, the artists… they all felt that it was time to change the scene and show that with more weapons and originality the Treyarchs are also capable of hitting as hard as Infinity Ward.
That is why they felt liberated to be able to set the new installment of ‘Call of Duty’ in a different time. Okay, it is not an alternative present like the ‘Modern Warfare’ saga but it does offer a warlike environment, the sea of interesting, the Vietnam War and the different hot spots of the time. Now, with the downfall of Infinity Ward, the guys at Treyarch will be able to claim a little attention. And it is that they had been “the others” for too long.
“The opportunity to create a video game in a totally new space is a fantastic thing for Treyarch. It really opened the minds of the team and a lot of creative licenses and new ways of expressing ourselves have emerged. “
“As you know, we have been making video games set in World War II for quite some time and although it is true that we liked the experience, being able to face something new has allowed us to focus on new examples of gameplay and refresh the experience.”
“This has been crystallized by the variety of things you can do in the game, the variety of locations and configurations, the variety of weaponry and the simple fact of being able to play as a ‘Black Ops’ in this historical period.”
In fact Mark Lamia, responsible for the game, goes further in the interview granted to various media and ensures that the fact that the Black Ops are an elite group with more or less license to carry out missions in their own style, has given the game designers great freedom to imagine situations.
