The confidence of the Monegasque he is much older after his big win at the Red Bull Ring, home to rival Ferrari team, just two weeks ago.
However, while the Austrian Grand Prix winner has no doubts about the Scuderia’s level at Circuit Paul Ricard, Leclerc admits he mistrusts Red Bull’s true pace.
“We still have work to do on the car,” introduced the Monegasque after the day of free practice . “ It is very difficult to understand why it seems that Red Bull does something different on Friday compared to us. But focusing on ourselves, the feeling is good.”
“We have to focus on the pace of the car, because if we have the perfect weekend, we can fight for victory.”
Charles Leclerc is aware that Ferrari will be under pressure due to reliability, his Achilles’ heel since the beginning of the year.
“It’s very hot for me and also for the car, so obviously we will have to give everything in terms of reliability this weekend. It will be a difficult race for us and also for the car. But I am convinced that everything will go well”, assured the Monegasque.
“We just need to make small changes and put in a good lap in qualifying. If that’s the case then things will definitely go well.”
“Verstappen looked very fast with a full tank, but I don’t know how much he had. That’s the real question mark. We have pace, we have to focus on ourselves and have a perfect weekend. If that’s the case, we can fight for victory”, concluded Leclerc.
