As the rest of the world opens up and tries to find ways to live with the coronavirus, China has maintained a much harsher approach to COVID-19 that has included local closures imposed on several occasions.
Right now, the Chinese city of Lanzhou is in a strict lockdown following the report of six local cases of COVID-19- The city has ordered residents to stay home and only leave their homes for essential supplies and medical emergencies.
Bus and taxi services within the city have been suspended and more than 70 trains have been stopped, in and out of the city.
The latest outbreak in the Asian country is believed to be related to the Delta variant and the country has reported dozens of cases every day for the past week. While the numbers are low, China takes COVID cases very seriously, implementing the lockdown and restrictions before the cases become uncontrollable.
Massive tests are underway in 11 provinces and authorities have suspended many inter-provincial tour groups.
