Why do you gain weight? Mainly for three reasons : the period of relaxation that follows the intense infatuation, the arguments and, later, the period of pregnancy. Regarding the first, 73% of those surveyed consider that weight control is very important when looking for a partner; however, this percentage drops to 68% when the relationship is already consolidated, which indicates that “when you are in the middle of a relationship you have much less awareness of how important it is to maintain the ideal weight,” explains Víctor Godoy, co-author of the study.
Arguments or breakups are also a reason to eat unnecessarily (in fact 51% go to sweets or the like), and therefore, to gain weight or gain weight. “Most of the time we do not eat because we need to feed ourselves, but because of many other impulses that come to us at all times,” Godoy clarifies.
When a relationship is established, snacking in the afternoon or after dinner is much more frequent than when looking for a partner. In the same way, another of the conclusions of the study is that when you are single or looking for a partner, social life is much more fluid and continuous than when the relationship is established or when a break occurs.
Regarding weight, 92% of those surveyed would like to lose weight regardless of their emotional stage . “It is essential to keep track of body weight but it is not necessary to do it weekly, it is recommended once a month”, explains Carmen Pardos, co-author of the study.
