There are few other entities in the state that embrace the spirit of independent film like deadCENTER Film in Oklahoma City. Named in reference to Oklahoma City’s unique status as the center of the United States, deadCENTER was founded in 2001.

Along with the increasingly popular annual deadCENTER film festival, the organization runs a filmFACTION membership program, presents short films each month, and works in conjunction with the OKC Museum of Art on presenting feature films as well.

The membership program for the movie deadCENTER is called filmFACTION. It costs $ 125 and offers a number of benefits including a courtesy pair of tickets to special screenings at the OKC Museum of Art and the “Oklahoma Film Series” at the Harkins Bricktown Theater, SUITE short screenings below), discounts on festival passes and more.

DeadCENTER film festival:

2001 marked the first year of the deadCENTER film festival, and the event has grown in popularity. It was named one of the top 20 best film festivals in the world by “MovieMaker” magazine. With more than 100 independent films from around the world, the festival is designed to “inspire growth in the local film industry.” Thousands of attendees enjoy Oklahoma narrative films, documentaries, animation and projects, and the awards are presented in 9 categories (see previous year’s winners below).

2017 festival details:

The deadCENTER 2017 film festival will take place June 8-11. Exhibitions are held at various venues around Oklahoma City, including the OKC Museum of Art, IAO Gallery, Downtown Library, Devon Energy Center Auditorium, Harkins Bricktown Theater, and outside at Myriad Gardens.
