Dispute over mustard for Leberkäs bread rolls ends with the police

No, it is not yet a religious war. But the question of whether the Leberkäs roll should go with sweet or medium-spicy mustard can lead to a scandal in Bavaria.

Munich – sweet or medium-spicy mustard with meat loaf? A dispute about the right mustard on the Leberkäs roll can end up in front of the police in Bavaria.

This is what happened in Munich on the Viktualienmarkt. A man there ordered a roll with medium-hot mustard, said a police spokesman. The seller then smeared sweet mustard on the meat loaf for the 61-year-old.

"He didn't want to accept that because he can't stand the sweet mustard," said the spokesman. The market woman scraped off the sweet mustard and gave it medium-hot, but the man asked for a completely new roll because there was still "sticky mustard".

Because the woman "refused to exchange," the man reported the case to the police. The officials had pointed out to him that the wrong mustard on the bread roll was not a reason for reporting because it was not a criminal offense, but a civil dispute, the spokesman said. Several media had previously reported on the case. dpa
