After spending more than two years studying the eating habits of thousands of people, J.Jeffrey Inman, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), concluded that the quantity and quality of meals change dramatically on weekends and during the holidays . In a study published in the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing , Inman reveals that during the festivities we tend to consume hypercaloric foods and dishes far removed from what the food pyramid recommends for a balanced and healthy diet.
Scientists from Vanderbilt University (USA) have reached a similar conclusion and warn that we eat more and worse on vacation, to the point that most people take on a few extra kilos on rest days. Exercising daily despite being on vacation, drinking a glass of water before each meal to keep your stomach full, and taking a walk after a large meal are some of the recommendations to avoid gaining weight on designated dates .
