When a flood helper discovered the doll on the Ahr, it was marked by the water. Cleaned and with a freshly washed romper suit, it should now be returned to the “doll mummy” or the “doll daddy”.
Koblenz / Georgsmarienhütte – wanted “doll mum” or “doll dad”: A helper found a doll in the flood disaster area on the Ahr in Rhineland-Palatinate and now the search is on for the owner.
The police in Koblenz also helped with the search and spread the story on Twitter and Facebook. The call had a great response, said a spokesman for the police in Koblenz. But no “doll mum” has yet been found.
According to the police, a Malteser helper from Georgsmarienhütte in Lower Saxony discovered the doll in a bush in Dernau an der Ahr. It was Michael Schulze, platoon leader of the Malteser Aid Service there. He and colleagues were on a 30-hour mission in Dernau, where he found the doll on July 31.
“She was badly battered”
“I couldn’t just leave it there,” Schulze told the German Press Agency. He is a father himself and knows how children can hang on to cuddly toys or dolls.
The doll then drove with the Maltese in the car. “She was badly battered,” said Schulze. After returning to Lower Saxony, he cleaned it a few days later, and his mother-in-law washed the doll’s romper suit.
He announced that if the owner of the doll was known, he would not simply send it back, but would hand it over personally. dpa
