Dorna confirms that Silverstone will remain in MotoGP in 2023 and announces dates

For the most part, the circuits visited this year have an agreement still in force for 2023, which makes it possible to imagine which events will make up the next championship. However, among the tracks without a contract for 2023 were the circuits of Silverstone, Mugello, Misano and Austin.

On the verge of contesting the 12th round of the year, the British Silverstone circuit is celebrating a double celebration, since the British Grand Prix is no longer an unknown on the 2023 program and will continue to have a place on the Dorna agenda.

Following the usual summer character of the British event, the race in the United Kingdom will take place next season, specifically on the weekend of August 4-6. However, 2023 will mark a before and after at the Silverstone track.

With a more sustainable character and betting on a reduction in pollution in all its facets, the English event will benefit from improved solar panels, betting on a future that is more respectful of the environment.

Since 2013, the world championship has been based on the starting straight that precedes the mythical Copse curve. As a novelty, in 2023, the MotoGP paddock will once again be installed in the International Paddock, just like Formula 1, for the first time since 2012.

Silverstone General Manager Stuart Pringle was excited about the official deal: “I am looking forward to MotoGP returning to the International Paddock in 2023, which is now connected by a new bridge to the 197-room Silverstone Hilton Garden Inn Hotel.” the official statement.

“By August 2023, phase 2 of the Wing solar panel project will be complete and will generate more than 13% of annual power, an initiative that aligns with Silverstone’s Shift to Zero plans and Dorna’s commitment to a brighter future. sustainable”.

For his part, the CEO of Dorna Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta, assured that the organization of the championship is delighted with the new proposal. “By racing together, MotoGP is committed to increasing our positive impact and Silverstone is a valued partner in our effort to create a more sustainable future.”

“As already announced, MotoGP will be powered by 100% sustainable fuel by 2027, and that is just one part of our global strategy, as sustainability is at the core of the sport. Now is the time to take that innovation and leave it behind. that inspires us in all our actions, on and off the track”, concluded Carmelo Ezpeleta.
