Misano.- The Italian completes this season the line-up of the Sepang Racing Team (SRT) , a team renamed with a view to the coming year as RNF without anyone knowing what it means, as a neighbor of Valentino Rossi’s workshop.
There will be five tests that the man from Forli will carry out with a Yamaha that starts from the base of the 2019 prototype. That has been the toll he has had to pay to be able to have a factory M1 next year.
Dovizioso, who already raced an M1 in 2012, then with the Tech3 team, is in the process of adapting to a bike that has nothing to do with the Demosedici with which he was runner-up three times. You are forced to do a reset , a process that is not immediate.
On his first day after his reappearance, Dovi finished last in the first training session, two and a half seconds behind Maverick Viñales, the fastest, and 21st in second, completely conditioned by the water.
“The feeling has been strange, because the bike is very different [to the Ducati], but in a good way. Position is the key right now, and I’m still not used to it. I think the Yamaha is the biggest and longest bike in the championship, and because of how it’s made, it should be like that”, summed up Dovizioso , who, he said, did not look for time at any time.
“When you still don’t have a clear position, you are not able to stop how you want and where you want. All this process that I now go through, you normally do during the winter tests. That’s why I’ve decided to do this race, to save time and be able to get the most out of the test [on Tuesday and Wednesday]”, #04 continued, before concluding: “The sensations will surely change when I go faster”.
