Early stimulation exercises to do with your baby from 0 to 6 months

One of the basic needs of the newborn is physical contact. Babies receive their first stimuli through their reference figures (the mother, first of all, and the father), therefore, it is essential that you take a few minutes a day to play, talk and exercise with your baby.

We are going to recommend some early stimulation exercises for your baby from 0 to 6 months that will help him gain flexibility and strengthen muscle tone, which will prepare him to explore the environment.

You should do them at a time of day when the baby is calm and receptive, respecting their feeding and sleeping hours. You can start with five-minute sessions and increase the time . They should not last more than ten minutes.

0-3 months

Even being very young, in the first trimester of life you can start doing some gentle exercises that will help you gain mobility, discover new sensations and awaken your first stimuli.

  • Take her hands and feet and play with her fingers, one by one.
  • Perform hand and foot massages
  • Lying on your back, grab the soles of his feet and bring his knees to his chest. Repeat 5 times with each leg and gradually increase the frequency.
  • Lying on his back, he takes his hands and makes circular movements with his arms.
  • Lying on his back, show him a colored toy at a distance of 30 cm from his eyes and move it from one side to the other so that he follows it with his head.
  • Lying on your back, bring the baby’s right hand towards the opposite shoulder very gently. Repeat with your left hand. Then cross both arms over your chest.

3-6 months

As the baby grows and gains motor skills, we will gradually add more complex exercises to the exercises mentioned above. We can also start doing exercises upside down so that you gain strength in your neck muscles, very little by little and always respecting your willingness to do them.

  • Lying on your back, gently move the bike with your legs.
  • Take their hands and play clapping.
  • Lying on his back, bend one leg while extending the other and help him turn to the side of the extended leg. Do it again with the other leg.
  • Lying on his back, grab him by the arms and slowly bring him up to a sitting position.
  • Lying baby on his stomach, place some toys in front of him so that he tries to reach them.

Touch is a very powerful connection with your baby: this is how you can...

As mothers - especially when we are first-timers - and we want to do what is best for the baby, we simply have to go with our instincts. I say this as someone who started motherhood having read a lot about it, but to whom time has taught precisely that.

When your family doesn't like the name you've chosen for your baby (and over...

One of the most transcendental decisions that are made in the incipient role of father and mother, when the baby is still in the womb, is deciding the name of your son or daughter. Trying to imagine what it will be like, discarding all those that you don't like or that remind you of someone you don't like (because let's not deny it, it's something we all do), and reaching consensus is not an easy job.
