A young girl wants to cross a street in slow traffic. Although she crossed a zebra crossing, she was hit by a truck and rolled over.
Erftstadt – A truck ran over and fatally injured a child on a zebra crossing in Erftstadt, North Rhine-Westphalia. The eleven-year-old died on Thursday at the scene of the accident, the police said in the evening.
Even an emergency doctor who came by helicopter could no longer help the girl. According to witness statements, the child had entered the zebra crossing when traffic is said to have jammed in both directions. Nevertheless, the eleven-year-old was hit by the truck. The 32-year-old driver suffered a shock. As a precaution, the police seized his mobile phone as evidence.
Emergency chaplains looked after the parents and eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident. The message also said that the fire brigade, the ambulance service and the police were looked after by the psychologists. dpa
