Espargaró leads the Aragón FP1 and Márquez completes 18 laps

Aleix Espargaró confirmed that MotorLand is a track that suits him and the Aprilia well to lead the first free practice session of the Aragón Grand Prix, despite the fact that the Spanish rider suffered a new crash after those at Silverstone and Misano. This time Aleix did not break any bones, despite hitting the ground at almost 150 Km/h, managing to finish the training with a best time of 1.48.686 that was unattainable for his rivals. Second was Pecco Bagnaia and the ‘local’ rider Alex Rins completed the top 3 from the start of the weekend.

The first Honda was that of Takaaki Nakagami, who after announcing his renewal finished fourth to put four different brands in the first four positions. Johann Zarco was fifth and Enea Bastianini sixth, while Miguel Oliveira’s KTM finished ahead of an inaccurate Fabio Quartararo, who went off the track several times, although without crashing. His teammate Franco Morbidelli was ninth and Luca Marini closed the top 10.

Eleventh finished Marc Márquez in his reappearance, in which he completed three sessions of seven, six and five laps, 18 in total, with a best time of 1.49.207 on his fifth lap, which at that time placed him sixth in the times, although little by little rivals overtook him until he fell to eleventh place, ahead of Jorge Martín, Jack Miller, Maverick Viñales or Cal Crutchlow, who after a year without competing in a grand prix finished 16th replacing the retired Andrea Dovizioso. Joan Mir, who is also back after injury, finished 17th, just ahead of Alex Márquez and Pol Espargaró.
