The atmosphere protects us and is essential for life on Earth. Without it we would be completely charred and could not breathe. Well, the exosphere is a very important part of it. We explain its functions and structure.
In reality, the exosphere is not exclusive to the Earth, but is the outermost layer of the atmosphere of any planet, the one that joins outer space with the innermost layers of the atmosphere. serves as a transition to an area without gases or apparent gravity.
In the case of the Earth, it is located at about 690 kilometers of altitude and can reach 1,000 kilometers in height at its lower limit, while its upper limit can reach 10,000 kilometers. It is precisely in this atmospheric strip that some meteorological satellites and other artificial satellites orbit.
In this area the action of gravity is minimal so that some very light gases can escape its action and get lost in interplanetary space.
The other parts in which the atmosphere is divided are, from greater to less distance to the surface, the thermosphere, the mesosphere, the stratosphere and the troposphere.
