F1| Alonso: "We're confident that we'll get a good result"

The weekend of the Mexican Grand Prix began with the resolution of the controversy of the last appointment in the United States, where Fernando Alonso recovered the seventh position that he lost due to a late protest by Haas who considered that his car was unsafe. The FIA stewards retracted the decision they made at the Circuit of the Americas and the man from Oviedo was able to celebrate the incredible comeback he starred in after a serious accident with Lance Stroll.

Already at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the Spaniard got behind the wheel of his A522 to try to get back into the zone that awards a prize at the end of Sunday, and he did not go astray in the only representative session on Friday. In FP1 , the two-time world champion was sixth, less than two tenths behind his compatriot Carlos Sainz, who was the fastest driver in his Ferrari, followed by his teammate Charles Leclerc.

After leaving these good feelings, the Spaniard returned to his car for the second practice in the Mexican afternoon, but as it was a test of the Pirelli tires for next season, his 11th place meant nothing. Everyone focused on filming to give information to the company that supplies the tires to the highest category of motorsports, in what was somewhat boring for the fans who followed him on television and from the stands.

After getting out of the car, the man from Oviedo shared his thoughts on Friday free practice: “I would say it was a solid practice for us, and it’s good to be back here in Mexico. The Mexico City track always has different levels of grip, and the high altitude, which is unique, puts pressure on both the car and the driver.”

“We have to adjust and adapt to these difficult conditions, which we will certainly be facing all weekend,” he said. “In general, we have completed our program on Friday and we go into tomorrow with the confidence of obtaining a good result.”

The sporting director of the Ensonte team, Alan Permane , also spoke after a fairly positive Friday day for the French, and recognized how well the Spaniard did: “Fernando [Alonso] has had a quiet day, and the car It seemed to go well in both sessions.

“Esteban [Ocon] was unable to complete his race program due to the red flag mid-session and testing of the Pirelli prototypes, but we have enough data to assess for the rest of the weekend, in which the objective, as always, is to have both drivers in the top ten”, he concluded.
